The best ATS for a
small business

Most "best ATS" lists rank whoever pays the affiliate fee. This one compares the things that actually decide it for a team under fifty people: what it costs, whether that cost is published, and whether adding a hiring manager costs extra.

We make one of these tools, so read the table and check the vendors' own pricing pages. We've noted where Jatura is the wrong answer.

ATS Entry price Seats Price public Best suited to
Jatura $79/mo Unlimited Teams who want AI review on inbound applications without a sales call.
Manatal $15/user/mo Per user Recruitment and staffing agencies managing client pipelines.
Breezy HR $157/mo Unlimited Teams wanting a free tier to trial one role before committing.
Workable $299/mo Employee bands Larger SMBs that also want sourcing and an HRIS in one bill.
Recruitee Quote only Tiered Collaborative hiring where many managers score candidates.
Ashby Quote only Per seat Well-funded startups scaling past 200 people with a recruiting team.

Entry prices are the lowest published paid plan at the time of writing. "Quote only" means the vendor does not publish a figure. Verify before you buy — these change.

Four questions worth asking

Is the price public?
If a vendor won't publish a number, you're committing to a sales cycle before you know whether it's affordable. For a team hiring two or three people a year, that's often the whole evaluation budget spent before the trial starts.
Does it charge per seat?
Per-user pricing punishes exactly what makes hiring work — getting hiring managers and interviewers into the system. A $15/user tool is the cheapest option for one person and $150/month for ten. Flat-rate plans cost more at one seat and less at eight, so count the interviewers before you compare headline prices.
What happens to the applications you don't read?
Most small teams don't have a sourcing problem, they have a triage problem. Ask what the system does with application 80 through 200 — whether they're scored, and whether you can see why.
Can you leave?
Check that candidates, applications and notes export on your plan, not just the top one. An ATS you can't exit is a decision you make once.

When Jatura is the wrong choice

You need outbound sourcing. Jatura works the applications that come to you. If your problem is that nobody applies, a sourcing-led tool will serve you better.

You're an agency billing clients. Manatal is built around agency workflows and client pipelines in a way a direct-hire ATS is not.

You need SAML SSO or an HRIS sync today. Those are on our roadmap, not in the product. If IT requires them to sign off, we're not ready for you yet.
